Who is Manjit?

Manjit and his wife, Amerit, have called Abbotsford ‘home’ for the past 33 years.

They have proudly raised 3 children in this community who have all been successful in their professional endeavours.

Manjit brings over 25 years of service from 5 different municipalities. Sohi believes his municipal experience will be a significant asset at the council table and to the Abbotsford taxpayers.

In addition, Manjit has been tirelessly involved in youth sports for the past two decades. He has coached soccer and mentored youth of all ages throughout his involvement in the community.

Based on his background, Manjit offers a pragmatic and realistic approach when it comes to complex or challenging decisions.

I’m Advocating for the Following 

  • A SAFER COMMUNITY: Tackle gang violence.
  • ABBOTSFORD AIRPORT: Encourage growth of the aviation sector and more international passenger travel. 
  • COMMERCIAL VEHICLE PARKING: Strategy for a long-term solution. 
  • FEDERAL/PROVINCIAL FUNDING: Seek funds from other levels of government for local needs/infrastructure.
  • FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Realistic discussion on property taxes. 
  • HOUSING FOR ALL: Combat homelessness.
  • INFRASTRUCTURE: Increase parks and rec space. Develop a plan to build a performing arts center. 
  • LOCAL JOBS FOR LOCAL FAMILIES: Encourage development of commercial and industrial lands. 
  • PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT: Promote functioning advisory committees and strategic citizen input. 
  • RAPID TRANSIT (LONG TERM PLAN): Explore skytrain extension or other mass transit options. 
  • REDUCE RED TAPE AT CITY HALL: Streamline building, renovation, development and rezoning applications.
  • SUPPORT FARMERS & LOCAL FOOD CULTURE: Promote local food culture and advocate the ALC for value added AG products.
  • UNIVERSITY OF THE FRASER VALLEY: Promote agriculture research and more space for local students.
